Being a parent is rewarding in so many ways but it is also full of hard decisions. We are often left wondering as a mom or dad "did I make the right choice" or "do the right thing" for my child. Parenting also brings with it a wide range of emotions. In the same day we can go from being excited and happy for our children to concerned, scarred and even mad at them. Sometimes these shifts occur even in the same hour!
To parent as effectively as possible we must remember to engage in some self care and attend to our other life roles (student, employee, sibling, spouse, etc.). Expending physical and emotional energy without refueling can leave us feeling anxious, depressed, and just plain stressed out and a moody irritable parent is no more fun than a moody irritable child!
