Workshops

Student Counseling Services has several 4-week 1-hour workshops to address common student concerns. Many students have reported feeling significantly better after participating in one of SCS' workshops. Interested students can schedule an initial appointment by calling 309.438.3655. The counselor can help the student decide if one of the workshops would be the most effective treatment for them.

Current workshop offerings

Anxiety Workshop

Do you feel anxious/nervous/jittery more days than not? Do people consider you a worrier? If so, then the anxiety workshop could help you relax and enjoy life more. This 4-week workshop teaches students how to effectively manage anxiety. Participants learn to identify unrealistic thoughts that are perpetuating their anxiety and are also taught numerous relaxation strategies. Interested students can schedule an initial appointment by calling 309.438.3655. The counselor can help the student decide if the Anxiety Workshop would be the most effective treatment for them.

Happiness Workshop

People often express a desire to be happier, but don't know how. This is a 4 week workshop aimed at helping ISU students become happier. Each week focuses on empirically supported Positive Psychology techniques that have been shown to increase happiness, life satisfaction, and connectedness to others, and to decrease depressive symptoms. Participants will learn new skills each week and have opportunities to reflect on the things in their lives that contribute to their happiness. Interested students can schedule an initial appointment by calling 309.438.3655. The counselor can help the student decide if the Happiness Workshop would be the most effective treatment for them.
